The thing is a "relationship with god" is still only YOUR god. As Ricky Gervais kinda said, you don't believe in thousands of other gods of other religions, sure maybe you agree with points or lessons in other religions that satisfies your "truth", but at the end of the day, I don't believe in ONE more god than you. Maybe there is a god, but obviously whatever that means is far too complex to be put in a man made book millennias of years old. Even if you seek something as vague as "a relationship with god" and even if that relationship is whatever it means for you right now (which is what every Christian I've met tells me), why read the Bible? If you're going to default to your best judgment and "open-mind" there should be no need to seek truth, or whatever understanding you're trying to build within your spirit/conscience.
